The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) in Music offers comprehensive music training so you'll be ready to transfer and pursue a baccalaureate degree in music. With small class sizes and dedicated faculty, you'll have every opportunity to meet your music goals.

Grow your skills and abilities on your instrument through private instruction and performance ensembles. You’ll master music theory concepts and develop skills like the ability to play scales and arpeggios, play an open score, and visually and aurally identify, analyze, and play on the piano chromatic harmonies.

ICC performing ensembles collaborate with Heartland Festival Orchestra, the Bradley University Orchestra and Chorus, and many other community music groups across Central Illinois.

How Do I Get Into the Music Study Program?

  1. Complete our quick admissions application. It’s free and easy!
  2. Apply for financial aid (FAFSA).

  4. Score 70% or better on the music theory placement exam; Or successful completion of MUS 136, and diagnostic audition in your primary performance area.
